Definition and Advantages of:
a) Full
Block Style: A full block style format
for a letter means all the text is left justified. Usually writing a letter in
from the edge of the left. Full block format is a formal style that is common
for business letters.
Advantage of Full Block Style: Information is located on one side making it
easy to read.
b) Block
Style: The letters refers to writing or typing that is printed and not written
in cursive or with any joined letters. This format is commonly used for
business letters. Block letters are much easier to read.
Advantage of Block Style: The letter has
the traditional standard of letter writing.
c) Semi-Block
Style: A semi-block style letter is a less formal version of a block. All text
is aligned to the left margin, except the date, attention line, and
complimentary close. The semi-block style is also called modified semi-block
because it is a modified version of the block or full block style.
Advantage of Semi-Block Style: The
semi-blocked style is combination of traditional and modern style of letter
writing.
d) Indented
Style: An indented letter style is a letter-writing style where the paragraphs
are indented, and the date, closing and signature start at the center of the
line. The paragraphs are typically indented by half an inch.
Advantage of Indented Style: It can be
used for business and it has the traditional standard of letter writing.
e) Simplified
Style: The simplified style business letter is a variation of the full-block
and semi-block letter formats. Compared to full-block and semi-block letter
formats, it has fewer internal sections. It is the most commonly used letter
style in professional correspondence.
Advantage of Simplified Style: It has
fewer internal sections and very simple.
f) Hanging
Indentation Style: The format paragraph hang, or leaning more to the left. The
form of this letter on letter head, date, complementary close and signature are
in the position of the Middle letters. The other part on letters such as the
inside address, salutation, body, subject of letter are in the position of
left-align.
Advantage of Hanging Indentation Style: It
has the traditional standard of letter writing
